McElhinneys is asking independent Irish businesses to get involved in spreading the message of our See Me campaign and we need your help!
We would like small businesses to get involved by sharing the smiling faces of members of their local Down Syndrome Community in their shop window displays across the country on March 21st, 2023 – World Down Syndrome Day.
What is the campaign about?
In early 2022, McElhinneys in collaboration with Donegal Down Syndrome Association launched our See Me campaign to proudly share images of members of the Down Syndrome community in Donegal in our window displays in honour of World Down Syndrome Day.
Following the reaction we received from our customers and the local community in Ballybofey, we decided to take See Me even further, by gathering together more members of the Down Syndrome community to invite them to participate in a very special project – See Me Ireland.
In November we launched our See Me Book, a charity portrait book sharing images of over 50 members of the Down Syndrome community in Donegal and the surrounding areas with ages ranging from two to 52 years old.
The proceeds from the sale of the book are all going towards offering much-needed support to the Donegal Down Syndrome Association.
Following a huge effort from our customers and supporters, we were able to get the attention of Ryan Tubridy and our See Me Book was featured on the Late Late Toy Show.
But we don’t want to stop there.
What do you need to do?
This year we are asking our fellow independent businesses across Ireland to help us in sharing the See Me Ireland message.
We want you to get involved by reaching out to your own local Down Syndrome community and inviting them to be celebrated in style on World Down Syndrome Day by sharing their portraits in your own shop window.
We will be showcasing our local Down Syndrome community once again in our window display in Ballybofey from March 13th to 26th and we would be delighted if you would join us.
How to get involved
World Down Syndrome Day takes place on March 21st, 2023 and ideally, we would like other independent businesses to join us in sharing portraits of their local Down Syndrome community on this date.
If you wish to take part in this charitable campaign, we would be delighted to share your support with our followers on social media.
McElhinneys will be giving a shout-out to each and every business that participates as we want to share this message with as many people as possible.
Please send us your details – including the name of the shop or business and its location - and feel free to send any imagery of your window display during World Down Syndrome Day.
Please use the hashtags #SeeMe #SeeMeIreland and #SeeMeMcElhinneys when sharing imagery or details of the campaign on social media.
If you know of any other independent Irish businesses that you feel would love to get involved, feel free to share this message with them.
Let’s get as many people involved in this worthy campaign as possible!
