Finding the perfect bra can be a stressful and uncomfortable experience for some people. We can all admit we've stayed in the wrong old bra for too long.
Having the right size bra can improve posture, reduce back pain and even make your clothing fit and look better, which is why it's so important to make sure you're wearing the correct size.
Here at McElhinneys, we offer an expert bra fitting service in-store, where we strive to make your experience as comfortable as possible while also being informative and educational.
If you can't make it in-store, whether it's because you live too far away or getting a fitting makes you nervous, it's important to measure yourself.
The good news is that you can actually measure yourself from the comfort of your own home with these easy-to-follow steps!
What you'll need:
- A soft measuring tape
Step One: Band Size
First, you're going to need to figure out your bra band size. Place the tape just under your bust and around your back where your bra would normally sit and measure the band line. The tape should be level and snug, but should not be digging in anywhere.
If you get an uneven number, round up to the nearest whole number. IE, if you're measuring at 35 and a half inches, round up to 36 inches. Whatever number you get is what your band size equates to, so 36 inches would be a 36 band size.
Step two: Bust size
Next up, you're going to need your bust size. Place the measuring tape on the fullest part of your bust and around your back. Again, if your number is uneven, round it to the nearest whole number.
Step Three: Cup Size:
To calculate your cup size, all you have to do is subtract your band size from your bust size and the difference in inches between the two numbers corresponds to your cup size. Use the graph below to help you figure out yours!
