Shop Local: Celebrating Irish Brands At McElhinneys

This year it's more important than ever to celebrate the best of Irish produce, and here at McElhinneys, we proudly support a wide range of Irish brands through stocking their products in our store in Ballybofey and in our online shop.

With St Patrick's Day just around the corner, we want to highlight some of the amazing brands we work with to help celebrate the variety of choice and quality products being created right here in Ireland.

From interiors to beauty, here are some incredible Irish brands available at McElhinneys:

McNutt of Donegal

Irish brands

Starting with a Donegal brand, McNutt is a supplier of beautiful woollen creations based in the seaside village of Downings, with a stunning range of scarves and throws available at McElhinneys.

McNutt uses only the best quality wool in each of their products and their team of in-house designers combine their unique skillsets to create some wonderful pieces that are the ideal gift for someone special.

The brand says: "Every Collection is designed in-house by a team of dedicated and talented designers who remain constantly inspired by the rugged coastline and nature's playground that surrounds them."

Sharon McDaid

Another Donegal-based creator we are delighted to work with is the award-winning contemporary artist Sharon McDaid who produces incredible landscape paintings.

Sharon's impeccable work is inspired by the landscape of her native Inishowen, and her pieces provide an excellent feature point of any room with the delicate balance of colours and tones that are a common feature of her style making for the perfect complement to any colour palette.

Speaking about her work, Sharon says: "These distinctive works capture perfectly the immediacy and diversity of the ever-changing light and shade of the Irish landscape."

Newbridge Silverware

Established in 1934, Newbridge Silverware is a well-known Irish homeware and jewellery brand that has become synonymous with great taste and style.

A new-on-the-scene Irish brand that has gained a huge amount of popularity recently is Scatterbox. The homeware brand is part of the umbrella brand Abbeyland Furniture, which has been in business for over 40 years and was established in Navan, County Meath, in 1979.

Scatterbox is known for its unique and contemporary styles across its range of cushions, art, curtains, bedding, furniture and soft furnishing. The brand produces their own original hand-painted designs, with a substantial part of their cushion collection also manufactured in Ireland.

Scatterbox says of their products: "This is a perfect nuance of sumptuous textures and powerful prints that will uplift, decorate and sit in your home for years to come."

Absolute Jewellery

Absolute Jewellery was founded in 2003 and its parent company, Azara Jewellery, was first established in 1997 by Arlene Nee. The brand has grown from humble beginnings into a leading costume jewellery brand across Ireland and the UK.

This well-established brand has been a firm favourite with women across Ireland for decades with a wide range of products available from necklaces to earrings and bracelets.

The brand says: "This distinctive brand is designed by Arlene. In her passion for jewellery, she has travelled the globe sourcing unique components to produce her collections."
