Working 9 to 5 – Your Staple Back to Work Wardrobe
This season the casual to work wardrobe transition is so important as we leave the comfort of our homes and loungewear to go back to the office. This season is alive with new trends and workwear is no different. Here is a collection of great quality pieces that you can mix and match and incorporate into your everyday wardrobe.
Blouses can really dress up an outfit and help tie in the colours of a blazer, skirt, dress or trousers. This season’s blouse has a retro feel with bold prints, so it is perfect for layering under dresses or blazers, tucked into A-line skirts or high-waisted flared trousers. The look is Dolly Parton in 9 to 5, and I adore it. Choose high-quality fabrics that will wash well ensuring you get the most wear out of your work capsule wardrobe. I have also added a black denim shirt to create an edgy casual chic outfit. Don’t forget the classic crisp white shirt, it is a slightly looser fit to layer with the oversized sweater vest layering trend.
I like to keep knitwear in block colours for work; grey, black, navy, brown, white, rust, burgundy are all fab as they allow you to layer and are versatile colours for a capsule work wardrobe. Sweater vests, cardigans and thin knit turtlenecks are staples for workwear as they can be worn in so many ways allowing you to mix and match with the prints in your closet.
A handful of great skirts are a good wardrobe staple to have as they can be worn in so many ways. Combine materials and prints leather, velvet, and corduroy to break up the outfit. I have chosen this black A-line leather midi skirt as it is the must-have skirt of the season it takes you from am to pm effortlessly and the outfit combinations are endless.
We are really spoilt for choice this season when it comes to dresses. The prints, fabric and silhouettes are just exquisite. I would be conscious of what investment pieces you have bought like jackets. Then purchase dresses to flatter this palette. This ensures you get the most wear out of your clothes. Add some colour and a few different lengths to be worn with tights, this helps keep your capsule wardrobe fresh.
I have chosen some great staple shoes for your AW wardrobe that combine comfort whilst remaing on-trend. You can’t go wrong with a patent brogue, a buckle front slip-on loafer, mid-heeled ankle boot and block-heeled boots. These help elevate any outfit and transform the look completely when you are trying out new combinations. You can always add in some colour to brighten up your darker ensembles but having these staple shades of beige, burgundy, green, brown and blacks is sure to leave you with lots of options.
I hope you have got some inspiration from the pieces I have chosen and have fun with your autumn/winter work wardrobe. Until next time.
