Year on year McElhinneys kick off the Christmas Season in the best style, and 2018 has been no exception.
The entire town came to a standstill on Sunday afternoon, as thousands gathered on the Main Street of Ballybofey to celebrate the start of the Festive Season with their iconic Christmas Window Unveiling and Twin Towns Light Switch-on.
The day was filled with festive fun and entertainment, with Paul Logue keeping the crowd pumped up and full of Christmas Cheer.
The Tank Engine Band and Strabane Brass Band kept the shoppers inside entertained with music, while outside the crowd were entertained by the Dungloe Marching Band, the Katriona McNamee School of Dance, the Rodeny Deery School of Music choir, Fire-Dancers, a performance from this years’ Balor Panto chorus and cast, plus a very special visit from Santa & Mrs Claus.
The Windows this year are titled ‘A Journey Through Christmas, Where Time Comes to Life’ and follows two children as they board a magical train and journey through a Winter Wonderland to the North Pole.
Along their journey they travel through a magical land full of fun unique characters, meeting some naughty elves, a grand polar bear and of course Santa himself.
Following on from the first ever McElhinneys Christmas Advert, the windows focus heavily on time, and how important it is to take time to spend with loved ones at Christmas.
Eilish Kennedy and the Creative Team in McElhinneys have been working on the concept of this idea since January this year, and the team have been tirelessly crafting and creating the window here for a number of months.
“It’s just amazing that families come from all over to see the Christmas Window Unveilings, it’s becoming a tradition in Twin Towns, and one that we are excited to continue and to keep getting bigger and better.”
