Exchanges and Refunds

We hope you love your order from McElhinneys. If for any reason you would like to return an item, we are happy to offer a refund or exchange if the item is unsuitable within the cancellation period of 14 days from the day in which you received your goods.  We offer the right to cancel and refund your order when sent back or returned in person in-store without undue delay and not later than 14 days from when you informed us of the decision to return.

The item(s) must be in new, unused and unworn condition with tags attached and in original packaging. If required our delivery bags are designed to be reused for your convenience. It is our policy to return goods to the purchaser if we suspect that any item(s) have been used or worn, are soiled, damaged or smell of smoke or any other odour.

We do NOT offer free Returns for Ireland and Northern Ireland customers. Customers must cover the cost of returning goods via post themselves. To assist with returns you can use the DPD drop-off point at a fee of €4.95. Alternatively, you can use your local An Post office drop-off point for a fee of €4.95, or book for the parcel to be collected from your home for a fee of €6.00 or return in person instore. Please see further details on the options available below.

Exchanging Goods
We are happy to exchange a product for the same product but in a different size, if available pending the product being returned is in new, unused and unworn condition with tags attached and in original packaging. If a different product is requested then a new order must be completed on the website by the user.

For reasons of health and hygiene we are unable to offer exchange or refund on the following products once the original packaging has been opened unless they are misdescribed or faulty:

  • Cosmetics/fragrance
  • Pierced earrings and other pierced body jewellery
  • Underwear/lingerie, control lingerie, shapewear, hosiery and swimwear
  • Quilts, duvets and pillows
  • Hats and hair accessories

This policy does not affect your statutory rights relating to faulty or misdescribed goods or your right to cancel orders under the consumer protection. Attached to your order dispatch email, you will find a returns form outlining your purchase details, our contact details and return address. Please print, complete and insert the original order form or a copy of the form in the returned parcel, without this, we may not be able to track your details. Following an inspection of the returned goods and after your return has been processed you will be refunded the amount due through the original method of payment, excluding the original postage charge.

You should expect to see the refund in your account within 5-7 working days after we have received the returned package; however, some banks may take longer to process refunds. If you have not received funds in your account after 10 working days you should contact customerservice@mcelhinneys.com.

How do I return my order?
The process is simple, you choose which way suits you best to return an item! Complete the order return form attached to your order dispatch email by filling in all your relevant details. Simply repackage your purchase with the original packaging and enclose your completed form. If required, our delivery bags are designed to be reused for your convenience.

We have three convenient options available for returns:

Option 1 - DPD
Available for Ireland & Northern Ireland customers only at a fee of €4.95

Simply log on to https://dpd.ie/Returns#/

  1. Continue as a Guest
  2. Choose McElhinneys from the drop-down list of Retailers.
  3. Add your Reference Number and Reason for Returning
  4. Select your parcel details - regardless of the size of the box it will charge a standard payment of €4.95
  5. Complete payment
  6. Select Print Label and attach this label to the Returns package.
  7. Please ensure the McElhinneys Returns documentation is completed and is enclosed in the returns package.

Alternatively, you can drop off your returns package at one of the DPD pick-up points which are located across Ireland. For your nearest DPD pick-up store please visit the DPD website here https://dpd.ie/Pickup.

When dropping off your parcel you will receive a receipt which will have your tracking number to keep track of the status of your return. When your return package has been received, your refund will be issued and funds should reach your bank within 5- 7 working days.


Option 2 - An Post 
AN POST - This service is ONLY AVAILABLE TO THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND CUSTOMERS.

  1. Select McElhinneys from the list of retailers
  2. Select your reason for return
  3. Enter your order number reference 
  4. Select your return method - you can bring your parcel to your local post office costing €4.95 or book a collection from a location that is convenient for you, this service costs €6.00. 
  5. Complete the checkout
  6. Print the returns label and please ensure you include the McElhinneys return documentation in the parcel. 

When your return package has been received our team will process and if the item is returned in the condition it was sold, we will process a refund and funds should reach your bank within 5-7 working days.

Sending returns from regions outside of the Republic of Ireland

Complete the order returns form attached to your order dispatch email by filling in all your relevant details, indicating the reasons for return, enclose it with your package, cut out the return address from the form, and attaching it to the outside of the return package. Bring it to your nearest post office or courier depot.  They will provide you with a quote to return your parcel to us. We advise registering the return so that you have proof of postage and can track the status of your return.  We cannot accept liability for goods returned in the post by customers.

Please be aware that if you are ordering for delivery to the UK (excluding NI) with Brexit you may see some changes. Any returns from the UK (excluding NI) may incur costs including transport costs, as well as any associated import fees or customs where applicable. These costs will be payable by the person returning the goods. When your return package has been received, your refund will be issued and funds should reach your bank within 5-7 working days.

Option 3 - Return goods instore 
Goods can be returned in-store at any till point. Please have your order form completed with the return reason. For goods purchased online and returned in-store it is our policy to process them at a central location by our dedicated web team. Funds for items returned in-store should reach your bank within 5-7 working days.

Settling disputes - online dispute resolution 

We aim to ensure that our customers are completely satisfied with their purchase and the service provided by our customer service team. However, if for any reason you are unhappy, please email us at customerservice@mcelhinneys.com and we will aim to resolve the matter immediately. You can also submit your complaint to an online dispute resolution process operated by the European Commission by clicking here This will take you to the Online Dispute Resolution website which is an official website managed by the European Commission dedicated to helping consumers and traders resolve their disputes out-of-court.
