Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and it’s time to find the perfect gift for your someone special. Men, if lingerie is on your list, but you’re feeling a little lost or clueless as to how to approach the Lingerie Section, keep reading as we give you the insider tips on finding the perfect fit!
Step 1: Need to Know Information
Start your stealthy mission by finding out what size your lucky lady needs – this is vital information so be sure not to skip this step! Find a bra that she wears often and check the label, you should see a number and a letter; both are important, so take note (e.g. Size 34C, 36A, 38F). It is almost impossible to guess a bra size, so unless you’re an expert I wouldn’t attempt a prediction.
For underwear, this will be the same as her dress size, which you may already know – kudos to you if you do! If you're unsure, or just want to double check, you can check any item of clothing or underwear for this information (e.g. Size 10, 12, 14).
Step 2: Remember to Shop for Her, Not for You
It can be very easy to be swept up into the moment of buying the laciest, raciest, little red number you can get your hands on; but remember to ask yourself the real question - Will SHE feel comfortable in it? If all goes to plan, you can buy her something that she will look great and feel fabulous in – just remember, her confidence and comfort is hugely important!
Step 3: Arm Yourself with a Goal!
Try to set yourself a goal for your shopping trip - do you have a colour in mind? Are you familiar with any particular styles? What is your budget?
Aside from her size, it might be a good idea to take a peak in her underwear drawer and her wardrobe in general to see what colours she usually wears – for example if she has a lot of white clothes it’s probably not a great idea to buy her a bright red or deep black bra!
Also, from that same snoop you should be able to see what underwear she usually wears and you can try to get something similar, and that way you know she’ll love it! If you’re feeling more adventurous, you can push the boat out – but not too far! Again, remember that you want her to feel like a million dollars, so comfort and sizing is key. For example, if she owns no or very few thongs, it's probably not the best idea to buy her one... you get the picture!
Step 4: When Faced with Adversity, Don’t Give Up
Even if you fail to arm yourself with all the information you need, there are great lingerie-alternatives out there, and you can still treat your special lady! Aside from Bras & Briefs, you can get your hands on Chemises, Nightdresses, and many other things that will feel like a special treat, and don’t require quite as much preparation! These pieces are all great examples of non-lingerie pieces that will still be a great Valentines Day Gift!
