It's coming up to that time of year again when we can start to pull out our favourite Summer clothing and accessories, and I for one am very excited to rock my favourite pair of sunglasses over the coming months.
If you think it's time to update your eye-protection collection and you're not sure where to start, definitely take a look at your face shape.
It is not exact science, but a very good place to begin your journey if you're really not sure where to start in finding your perfect pair.
Take a close look at your face in the mirror and try to visualise which shape your face is most similar to - is it round, oval, square or heart/triangle? Let's dive in...
Round
Defined as soft angles, with an equally wide cheekbone, forehead and jaw. The best frame for a rounded face is a rectangle shape.
Ideally you should avoid a round pair of glasses, and you could also look for coloured frames and high framed glasses which will help to elongate your face. We've selected two angular pairs, one from Quay Australia and one from Powder, which should sit nicely on a round face.
Oval
This shape is characterised as slightly wider cheekbones, with a narrower jaw and forehead. This face shape suits lots of different glasses shapes (lucky ducks!) - simply make sure to choose frames that aren't too wide for your face or that might drown out your features. We've selected two cool, unique styles from Quay Australia that we feel an oval-shaped face could rock!
Square
Generally square shaped faces are equally long as they are wide, and usually have a rather strong forehead and angular jaw. If this is your face shape, we recommend oval or round glasses shapes, as this will soften the angles of your face. These gorgeous rounded glasses from Quay Australia and Powder will help to soften an angular face.
Heart/Triangle
If you have a triangular or heart-shaped face, your temples will be the widest part of your face and will taper down right to the narrowest part of your face, the jaw. Try to opt for styles with wide lower edges, cat-eyed shapes and rimless glasses. Avoid straight lines on top of the glasses as this will draw attention upwards to the wider part of your face. We have selected a style from Katie Loxton for its wide lower edge and one from Powder for its cat-eyed shape which would work well on a triangle-shaped face.

The reason people spend time on guides like these is because you most-likely would like a pair of Sunglasses that actually do suit your face shape, and accentuate your best features, just like when choosing clothes. However, we would like to remind you that you can rock any pair of sunglasses you like, as long as you have plenty of confidence and with your attitude!
