Your Skincare is as unique as you, and it is important to always remember what routine works for one person may not work for you. We do know however, the best steps and the best order to take these steps in to ensure maximum benefit from your routine. Here are 6 steps to take to make the most of your skincare...
Step 1 - Cleanse
The first cleanse is all about removing makeup, dirt and oil from your face that will have built up during the day. Oil based cleansers are very effective at removing makeup, so this is what we would recommend beginning your skincare routine with. The Shiseido WASO Cleanser is a gentle refreshing, alcohol-free, oil-free honey-gel that foams without water to remove impurities and makeup and is the perfect first step in your skincare routine.
Step 2 - Double Cleanse
Double cleansing is important at night time, as you have a better opportunity to fully clean your skin of excess sebum, dirt and makeup that became loose with the first cleanse. By double cleansing your skin will be fully prepped to absorb and get the full benefit of any further skincare steps. The MyClarins Micellar Cleansing Milk gently cleanses and removes make-up for clean, fresh, radiant skin. The unique texture leaves the skin velvety soft and gives a healthy glow, and is the perfect gentle option as a Double Cleanse.
Step 3 - Toner
Toners were created to return the pH balance to your skin once you have cleaned fully. As with other skincare products, there are different toners available to combat various skin issues, to be sure to use the correct one for you. From Estée Lauder, the Perfectly Clean Toning Lotion is a 2-in-1 toner and exfoliate, balancing the skin while removing dry, dull skin cells and revealing a brighter, smoother complexion.
Step 4 - Eye Cream
Eye creams are designed to moisturise and yet protect the delicate skin around your eyes from other products. It is important to apply eye creams at this stage in your skincare routine, as the heavier products will not be able to penetrate in to the skin once this has been applied. The unique Recover formula from Pestle & Mortar is a lightweight and soft eye cream, designed to improve skin texture, dimish fine lines and reduce dark circles - perfect for the sensitive eye area.
Step 5 - Serum
Your skin repairs as you sleep, and the skin on your face is no exception. Serums are made up of smaller molecules, and therefore are ideal to apply before moisturiser as they penetrate deeper and further into the skin than general creams. They are more concentrated and potent, so a little goes a long way! A fantastic Serum is the Elizabeth Arden Retinol Ceramide Capsules, which deliver the perfect amount of fresh, potent serum to you in each individual capsule.
Step 6 - Moisturiser/Night Cream
Night creams are heavy in texture, creating a protective barrier for your skin at night which stops anything harmful entering your skin and also holds your good ingredients in! The Clinique Turnaround Overnight Moisturizer plumps, smooths, helps skin glow overnight, revealing more luminous skin.
